Dr. Matthias Wismar serves as a Programme Manager at the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, where he plays a pivotal role in leading, managing, and developing studies and face-to-face dissemination and knowledge brokering events. He has engaged in extensive research and dissemination activities on the health workforce. This encompass a wide range of topics, including planning and forecasting, recruitment and retention of health workers, strategic investment in the health workforce, governance of the health workforce, professional mobility and migration of health workers, and skill-mix innovations supporting new models of care. Dr. Wismar holds a doctorate in political science and studied at Goethe University in Frankfurt (Germany) at the University of Southampton (UK) at Nuffield College, Oxford (UK).
