Steven Engels is Head of Unit in Directorate-General Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission. He is responsible for the unit dealing with the Directive on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications, the Pact for Skills, and the Net-Zero Industry Academies. Prior to joining DG Employment, Steven worked in the Secretariat-General of the European Commission, DG Economic and Financial Affairs and the Representation of the European Commission to Belgium. Steven has an academic background in European Economic Integration and Labour and Social Security Law and fifteen years of experience as policy maker, focusing on economic and social policies.
